My Reflection

In ICT class I learned a lots of things. I learned to make different kinds of presentation for different kinds of topics. Thanks to this I think I can use the power point more usefully. I would like to say "Thank you Ms. Kavitha!". I will miss you on Year 8 :).

Case Study 4

Q1. How could Mussie and Ellie find out whether older people do more for charity  than younger people?

A1. Search for the information on the Internet.

Q2. Why does Mussie think that these data prove him right? Why might Ellie think that these data do not prove him right?

A2.  1) Because he saw that the amount of older people has donated more money than the younger people.

        2) Because the data is only from one of the charity website so, on the other charity website it could be different. Also the money the younger people are donating is going up every year and if the trend goes on few years later the younger people will donate more money to the charity. And the chart only shows the amount of money and the not the activities the younger people do.

Q3.What questions should they ask?

A1. 1) How old are you?

       2) How much money do you give to charity?

       3) How much time do you spend doing charity work?

Q4. How many questions should they hand out? Who do you think should fill in their questions?

A4. They should hand out around 30 copies.   Adult and teenagers.

Q5. Which software could Mussie and Ellie use to put the answer into the computer? How can they check that the data are correct? How could they reduce the number of errors of the data? What problems might there be if the data were typed incorrectly?

A5. 1)  Microsoft Excel.

       2) They can go over the data again to check if they have the correct ones.

       3) Use a calculator and Spell Check for spelling.

       4) -The data won’t be counted

           - The result might be confusing because it’s different from what they expected.

Q6. What is the best way for Ellie and Mussie to present their result?

A6. They can present their result by using a table and charts.

3.0 Case Study

Q1. What might be the differences between a computer system set up for gamming compared to one set up for a business to use? Think about the different hardware that might be needed.

A1. For the gamming system needs an XP7000 Tower, a 19-inches flat screen, a DVD drive, a high-speed modem and speakers. However for the business system you only need a regular Tower, a 19-inches screen, a high speed modem and a printer. So practically the gamming system is more expensive than the business system.

Q2. Earl has got 800 pounds to spend. How can Shaheen work out if he has got enough money? What if he hasn’t got enough? What methods can Shaheen use to help her work out the prices of these different options?

A2. She could make a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel to help her. Earl can choose cheaper options.

Q3. What does Shaheen need to do to this spreadsheet model so that it is ready to use?

A3. She can add up all the prices of the options.

Q4. How can Shaheen use the spread sheet model to help her with the new customers? What changes might she need to make to her spreadsheet model?

A4. She can change the options that suit her new customers.

Q5. How else could Shaheen present this information to make it easier to read?

A5. She can use graphs.

HW 2.2 Does Nessie exist?

Nessie, True or False?

Many have heard of the legend of the loch ness monster Nessie. And there were a lot of evidence regarding about it. It lives in the lake of Scotland. What I think is that it could be possible that the creature could actually exist. There are a lot of reasons why but mainly there are two. One is that there is real evidence. There are people that saw it and there are pictures taken about it. Although some are fake and operated there are some that are real. The second one is that the information is very detailed. Here is one of the happenings of when Mr. and Mrs. Spicer saw Nessie. On the 22nd of July 1933 a most extraordinary thing happened, so extraordinary it taxed the imagination of even the most confirmed believers. Driving down the narrow road, early one morning, between the village of Dores and Inverfarigaig, Mr. Spicer and his wife saw 'a most extraordinary form of animal' crossing the road ahead ; which at this point lay some 20 yards from the water. First a long neck appeared, undulating rapidly, forming a number of arches. It was a little thicker than an elephant’s trunk and stretched the width of the road and behind it a huge ponderous body, lurched againly towards the Loch. In seconds it crossed the road, and disappeared through the bushes out of sight. The Spicers ; at first some 200 yards distant, accelerated towards it, but when they arrived there was nothing to see, just a gap in the undergrowth through which the creature must of passed. They heard no splash, but the noise of the car engine might well of drowned it ; neither did they see any limbs, but the creature's lower extremities were obscured by a dip in the road, which at this place was some 10-12ft in width. The animal’s body was about 4ft high and together with the neck, about 25ft in length. Staggered and curiously repelledby what they had seen the Spicers withstood the barrage of questions levelled at them after the event by various interested people. This is why I think and the believers think the Nessie is existing. Because of real evidence.

Where could Remy get his information from for this article?

Google, yahoo, books, people, science websites, youtube.

How can Remy use the internet to find what he wants?

He can go to searching websites like google, yahoo, spezify, wikipedia.

Why has Remy got over 2 million results? Why are some of the websites he has found not relevant? How could Remy improve the results?

Because it will search for everything with the words he typed in, in the searching website. He can also use more specific words.

Can Remy trust the information? Why might it be unreliable?

He can’t trust all the information because some might be written by people that doesn’t actually know about the subject. That’s why you can ask people in real life.

What software should Remy use? What should he do before he starts using the software?

He should make sketch of the magazine article and have written down the important information.

How can Remy design and write the article so that it will appeal to Remy’s readers

He should write it down in colorful letters and backgrounds and pictures and different if he is writing the article to teenagers.
